The (LF) PowerOne Powerelements are ideal for attaching components such as fuses, switches and much more to the PCB. Learn more about these and other interconnect solutions now.
(LF) PowerOne Powerelements from Würth Elektronik ICS are pressed into the printed circuit board. Soldering is not required, and there is no thermal stress. The manufacturing step can be easily integrated into the process chain and is extremely cost effective. Several Powerelements can be pressed in at the same time with the appropriate tools.
Processing instructions
PCBs shall be designed in accordance with the latest edition of IPC A 600. In the case of massive press-fit technology, the PCBs must be designed in accordance with the Würth Elektronik ICS Press-fit Specification. Special attention should be paid to drill diameters and copper thickness.
The torques listed in the table are based on DIN 267 Part 25. Different material combinations or thread lengths for bushings are not considered.
Torque values for brass
| Thread | M2.5 | M3 | M4 | M5 | M6 | M8 | M10 | M12 |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| (Nm) | 0.3 | 0.5 | 1.2 | 2.2 | 3.9 | 9.0 | 17.0 | 35.0 |
The current carrying capacity of a press-fit connection must always be considered in the context of the overall system. The press-fit zone has an extremely low contact resistance of 100-200 μOhm, so the limiting factor is usually the PCB layout or the connection of external leads.
(LF) PowerOne Press-fit high current contacts have successfully passed the vibration and mechanical shock tests in accordance with ISO 16750-3.
Vibration test according to ISO 16750-3:2012 4.1.2.7 Random Test VII.
Mechanical shock test in accordance with ISO 16750-3:2012 4.2.3 Severity 2.
